How to Submit a Manuscript

You can either submit your manuscript electronically or using surface mail, whichever is the most convenient for you.

Electronic Submission

Accepted electronic formats

Email a single file to kaveh@ece.wpi.edu indicating clearly the corresponding author and complete contact
information, and that a manuscript is attached to be submitted to IJWIN.
If the electronic material exceeds 2Mbytes, it is strongly recommended that you zip it before you email it.

Surface Mail Submission

Manuscripts, in quintuplicate and in English, should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief:

General Submission Guidelines

Submission is a representation that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A statement transferringcopyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to Kluwer/Plenum Publishing Corporation will be required before the manuscriptcan be accepted for publication. The Editor-in-Chief will supply the necessaryforms for this transfer. Such a written transfer of copyright, which previouslywas assumed to be implicit in the act of submitting a manuscript, is necessaryunder the U.S. Copyright Law in order for the publisher to carry throughthe dissemination of research results and reviews as widely and effectivelyas possible.

Type double-spaced on one side of 8-1/2 x 11 inch white paper using margins of at least 1inch on all sides and using point 12, and submit the original and fourcopies (including copies of all illustrations and tables). All copies mustbe dark, sharp, and clear. Computer-generated manuscripts must be of letterquality (not dot-matrix).

A title page is to be provided and should include the title of the article, author's name(no degrees), author's affiliation and suggested running head. The affiliation should comprise the department, institution (usually university or company), city, and state (or nation) and should be typed as a footnote to the author's name. The suggested running head should be less that 80 characters (including spaces) and should comprise the article title or an abbreviated versionthereof. For office purposes, the title page should include the completemailing address, telephone number, and fax number of the one author designatedto review proofs.

An abstract is to be provided, preferably no longer than 150 words.

A list of 4-5 key words is to be provided directly below the abstract. Key words should express the precise content of the manuscript, as they are used for indexing purposes.

All sections should be numbered with Arabic numerals (such as 1. INTRODUCTION). Subsectionsshould be identified with section and subsection numbers (such as 6.1 Second-Value Subheading). If applicable, an independent single-number system (one foreach category) should be used to label all theorems, lemmas, propositions,corollaries, definitions, remarks, examples, etc. The label (such as Theorem4) should be typed with paragraph indentation, followed by a period andthe theorem itself.

Mathematical notation should be typewritten wherever possible. If hand written notation mustbe used, it should be clear and legible, with any necessary explanatorynotes located in the margin. Equations should be numbered consecutivelywith Arabic numerals in parentheses place flush right, and should be thuslyreferred to in the text [such as Eqs. (2) and (6)].

Illustrations (photographs, drawings, diagrams, and charts) are to numbered in one consecutive series of Arabic numerals. The captions for illustrations should be typed on aseparate sheet of paper. All illustrations must be complete and final,i.e., camera-ready. Photographs should be large, glossy prints, showinghigh contrast. Drawings should be high-quality laser prints or should beprepared with india ink. Either original drawings or good-quality photographicprints are acceptable. Artwork for each figure should be provided on aseparate sheet of paper. Identify figures on the back with author's nameand number of the illustration.

Tables should benumbered (with Roman numerals) and referred to by number in the text. Eachtable should be typed on a separate sheet of paper.

List references numerically at the end of the paper in the order cited in the text. Use the appropriate Arabic numeral in square brackets on the baseline for citation in the text. Where there are three or more authors, only the first author's name isgiven in the text, followed by et al.

References should include (in this order): initials and last names of all authors, titleor article, name of publication, volume number, inclusive pages, and yearpublished. The style and punctuation of the references should conform tothat used in the journal--illustrated by the following examples:

All acknowledgments (including those for grant and financial support) should be typed in oneparagraph on a separate page that directly precedes the references section.A short biography (100-150 words) of each author should follow the referencessection. A photograph (identified on the back with author's name) of eachauthor should be provided.

Footnotes should be avoided. When their use is absolutely necessary, footnotes should benumbered consecutively using Arabic numerals and should be typed at thebottom of the page to which they refer. Place a line above the footnote,so that it is set off from the text. Use the appropriate superscript numeralfor citation in the text.

The journal makesno page charges. Reprints are available to authors, and order forms withthe current price schedule are sent with proofs.
